CITIZENSHIP OF HUNGARY
BY NATURALIZATION
In order to be eligible to become the full-fledged Hungarian national, meeting of one of the
following conditions is required:
1) legal residency in the country for minimum 8 years;
2) official marriage with Hungarian.

Children born in Hungary cannot automatically become citizens of the country, unless the parents are unknown or have no other citizenship. On the other hand, if at least one of the parents is a citizen of the state, his child will also be granted with a citizen, regardless of the country he was born in.
