CITIZENSHIP OF SLOVAKIA
BY NATURALIZATION
This option is envisaged for those who have lived in the country for at least 10 years and are fluent in Slovak language. An obligatory condition in this case is clear criminal record.
Also, those who have lived in the status of residence permit, who studied at a Slovak
university, or who has a ready business in the countries can count on getting citizenship
through naturalization.

Those who were born in the territory of Slovakia or are in close blood relationship with the citizens of this country fall under this category.
A spouse of a Slovak citizen can also obtain citizenship after 5 years of marriage.

Legislation also provides for the option of acquiring citizenship by investing significant amounts in the Slovak economy.
THE PROCEDURE OF OBTAINING
THE CITIZENSHIP OF SLOVAKIA
- Collecting and preparation of the documents according to the Slovak Republic migration policy.
- Submitting of applicant’s dossier to The Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic Department at the place of residence registration. Receiving confirmation of acceptance of a package of documents and an entrance number (Akt o prijati dokladov).
- After entering the Decree, obtaining a certificate confirming the citizenship status of Slovakia.
- Acquiring national internal passport – Obciansky preukaz (IDcard).
